Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, and what we do not do with it — in plain language, because a policy nobody reads protects nobody.

Who this applies to
This policy covers your use of Omegle1v1, an independent one-on-one video chat service. It applies to the account you create here and to the sessions you take part in.
What we collect
- Account information
- What you provide when you create an account, such as a display name and the credential you sign in with. You are not asked for your legal name or your address.
- Live audio and video
- Your camera and microphone streams are transmitted to the person you are matched with for the duration of the session. The stream is what makes the conversation work; it is not published anywhere and is not offered back to you or to anyone else as a recording afterwards.
- Usage and device data
- Ordinary technical information — approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and records of when sessions started and ended. This is what makes abuse handling, fraud prevention and basic diagnostics possible.
- Reports and moderation records
- When you report an account, the report and the context needed to act on it are retained. Reports about you are also retained, because a single incident often only makes sense against a pattern.
- Payment records
- If you buy credits, the record of the transaction is kept. Card details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored by us.
What we use it for
- Running the service — matching you with someone and carrying the session.
- Safety and abuse handling — investigating reports, enforcing the rules and removing accounts.
- Fraud and payment integrity.
- Keeping the service working — diagnosing faults and understanding aggregate usage.
- Meeting legal obligations, and responding to lawful requests from authorities.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not publish your 1v1 sessions: nobody can watch one you are in, and there is no archive of it. (Live rooms in the app are the opposite by design — a room is broadcast to whoever is watching it, and anything you type in a room chat is visible to that room.)
- We do not use the content of your conversations to build an advertising profile of you.
- We do not share your data with other people you have been matched with.
Your live video
A session is live. Your camera and microphone streams go to the one person you are matched with while the session is running, and stop when it ends. There is no replay, no archive, and no way for a third person to watch.
What we cannot control is the other participant's own device. Recording another person is against the rules and accounts are removed for it, but no service can technically prevent someone pointing a second camera at their screen. Please decide what you show on that basis — and see the safety page for the rest.
How long we keep things
Account information is kept while your account exists. Records we need for safety, fraud prevention, payment or legal reasons are kept for as long as those purposes require, which can be longer than the account itself. Live audio and video are not retained after a session ends.
Who else is involved
We use service providers to operate the platform — hosting, infrastructure and payment processing among them. They handle data on our instructions in order to provide their service, and not for their own purposes. We also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate a serious safety matter.
Cookies and similar technology
We use cookies and equivalent browser storage to keep you signed in, to remember your settings, and to understand aggregate usage so we can fix what is broken. You can clear or block them in your browser, though signing in will not work without the ones that maintain your session.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have some or all of the following. We will act on a request from the account holder.
- Access
- Ask what information is held about your account.
- Correction
- Ask for inaccurate account information to be corrected.
- Deletion
- Ask for your account and its associated data to be deleted, subject to records we are required to keep — for example moderation and payment records.
- Objection
- Object to a particular use of your information, and we will tell you whether we can stop it and why.
- Withdraw camera access
- Revoke camera and microphone permission at any time from your browser. That is a browser setting we cannot override.
Age
This service is for adults and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors, and an account believed to belong to one is removed. If you believe a minor is using the service, report the account — see the safety page.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, the updated date at the top of the page will change and we will make the change visible in the service. Continuing to use the service after that means the updated policy applies.
Contact
To make a request about your data, or to ask a question about this policy, use the contact and report controls inside the app. A published support address will be added here once it is live.
